Engineering Technicians - Inspections (Open Positions: 1)

Announcement Number: 99255142 The purpose of the class is to perform technical engineering duties associated with the inspection of road, storm drainage, grading and sediment / erosion control construction projects contracted by the private sector; analyze data from studies; to provide professional and courteous customer service, and to perform related work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under supervision of the Engineering Associate II-Inspections.Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education or specialized advanced training in engineering technology or a closely related field. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Department of Transportation Asphalt Roadway and Earth Base Technician certification and DHEC Sediment and Erosion Control certification are desirable. Must be able to obtain Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification within 6 months of hire.Requires over two years and up to and including four years of experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
