Job Responsibilities The position of Clerical Support Specialist is an at-will position within the South Carolina House of Representatives (House).
A Clerical Support Specialist performs job duties in the Clerical Support Services office as directed by the Supervisor of Clerical Support Services, the House Clerk, and the Speaker of the House.
The position requires an individual who is patient, follows instructions well, is willing to learn, is self-motivated, and works well with diverse personalities.
Draft, compose, edit, and finalize all types of correspondence, including but not limited to, letters, award certificates and memorandum; Answer incoming calls professionally with attention to detailed instruction; Conduct online research to supplement or complement information to prepare correspondence; Maintain alphabetical hardcopy filing; and Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor of Clerical Support Services, the House Clerk, and the Speaker of the House.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members of the House and accommodate requests from them; Ability to work under pressure of deadlines in a fast paced environment; Ability to draft, compose, edit, finalize correspondence of all types; Excellent typing skills; Proficient with Windows-based computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel (2016), and familiarity with Outlook; and Ability to transcribe from the Dictaphone machine (requires use of headset and foot pedal) into Word document.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
